People placing "free to good home" advertisements in newspapers for their unwanted dogs are being urged to be wary of unscrupulous dog brokers.
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) is appealing to people not to give their unwanted pets to strangers and to rather work with their local SPCA.
This comes after several "dog broking" cases were reported to the NSPCA where hundreds of "free to good homes" dogs were being transported to Malawi to work as security dogs.
If you have to give up your dog, be sure to contact your local animal shelter or breed rescue organizations. Stay away from dog brokers.
