Trailed by a television camera crew, a deaf Westbury teenager failed again today to bring his service dog to school.
When he arrived this morning for classes, John Cave was met by W. Tresper Clarke High School Principal Timothy Voels, who told him the dog, Simba, was not permitted inside the building. John handed the dog's leash to his mother, Nancy, who took the dog back to the family car.
I can't believe this kind of thing still goes on. Guide dogs are recognized the world over for their necessary services. This principal needs a good talking to by the PTA.

this kind of discrimination stil happens and needs educating of people. but there is one other important matter that is not even protected by the right to own and use a SD, the right of the SD not to be counted as just a dog. Laws currently are only written that if it walks like a dog and barks like a dog it's jsut a dog. There is no protection for a homeowner like that of a renter to own the service dog and it not be counted as just a dog by law. this is happening in two cities that I currently know of, SD being treated as just a dog under the dog laws and being counted in the dog ownership count laws because there is no separate law that states a SD is not a pet and thus not just another dog.
