Cattle A Deadly Risk To Dog Walkers

DOG owners are being warned not to walk their pets on land where cattle are grazing.

The warnings follow an inquest last month into the death of a Pembrokeshire woman who suffered injuries consistent with trampling, crushing and butting.

Wendy Tustin, 55, from Tenby, was found dead in a field of around 40 suckler cows with calves last September. She was last seen walking her dog nearby.

Farmer Watcyn Richards, 66, says rural organisations must now be more specific when warning the public about the dangers of dog walking through cattle fields, especially when calves are present.

For months he has staged a one-man campaign calling for a complete ban on walkers taking their dogs on farmland.

Duh. You threaten the young of a large herding animal, and you risk dying. Period!
