My Philosophy… On Dogs!
“We believe in individual liberty, limited government, capitalism, the rule of law, faith, a color-blind society and national security. We support school choice, enterprise zones, tax cuts, welfare reform, faith-based initiatives, political speech, homeowner rights and the war on terrorism. And at our core we embrace and celebrate the most magnificent governing document ever ratified by any nation--the U.S. Constitution. Along with the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes our God-given natural right to be free, it is the foundation on which our government is built and has enabled us to flourish as a people.” – Rush Limbaugh
Have you ever considered what you believe concerning responsible dog ownership?
You had better. Because unless you know what you stand for, you’ll eventually end up losing your rights to own a dog at all. If you do a bit of research, the places/ countries where they enact the worst dog laws are: socialist, collectivist, lacking due process rights, big brother governments, and severely limit private property rights.
There are folks out there that want to take away your right to responsibly own a dog… banning dogs from public places, making it illegal for dogs to bark or growl (can you ban a dog from having feelings... from being a dog?) or run off leash or swim in a lake, making insurance impossible to get, banning certain breeds, making it impossible for breeders and kennels to operate, restricting trainers, zoning laws that are not dog friendly, overly restrictive apartment and homeowner association rules, and passing laws which hold dogs to the standards of being a human. I don't believe that the good of the many outweigh the good of the individual. The Bill of Rights is about balancing the rights of the individual and the rights of the majority. I don't need some small group, 2000 miles away deciding what is best for me... what dog I should own, what new politically correct thing I need to do with my dog, how to not offend the nasty neighbor that hates dogs, etc. Collectivism is tyranny, and it can take away your right to own a dog. We all know what it means to own a dog responsibly... and I don't want that infringed upon anywhere in the world!
I’m not an animal rights nut. I’m not against eating meat, or hunting for food, or fishing, or dog ownership. I am against irresponsible dog ownership, mistreatment of animals, trophy hunting (not eating what you kill, but killing only for the thrill of it), breed bans, and overly restrictive dog laws and rules. There is a middle ground here. You can have compassion on animals, and practice the Golden Rule when dealing with others... without sacrificing important personal liberties, such as the ability and right to responsibly own a dog.
Whether or not you like Rush Limbaugh, these above principles are mine when it come to dog ownership.
Any other way… and the domestic dog will go the route of the Dodo bird... EXTINCTION!
That is the goal of the animal rights nuts. They are against the domestication of any animal... Think on that some time...
