A 13-year-old boy was injured by a police dog when authorities tried to break up a brawl at a Wal-Mart, police said.
Police responded to the Valley View Wal-Mart parking lot about 8 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of gunfire and a fight involving 20 to 50 minors, police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said.
The boy, who was bitten on the arm, was taken to the hospital and released.
Police took into custody a 16-year-old boy who was armed. Neither boy was identified because they are juveniles.
The boy who was bitten was hiding behind several cargo boxes and refused to come out after police ordered him to, Johnson said, so officers let the dog loose on him.
I don’t blame the police for sending a dog on this kid. This was a riot, and one kid was found to be armed with a deadly weapon. This kid shouldn’t have been involved. Tough luck. You hang around with the wrong crowd, and you get hurt.
And what about this kid’s parents?!
