Some Beaches Should Allow Off Leash Dogs

A recent confrontation in Middletown has reignited the debate over whether dogs should be leashed at state beaches.

Some dog owners say their pets should be allowed to roam freely on beaches in the winter, when few people are around. But others say dogs should be leased on beaches at all times, regardless of the season.

We have thousands and thousands of miles of ocean and fresh water beaches in the US. You’d think you could let a dog run leash free at some of them, especially in the winter months. It is absolutely insane the way we prevent people and their dogs from using our public park lands.
